If you don’t use one you’ll miss out important details such as the name, starting time and prize money on offer for each race. You won’t know how the horses have fared on this course before and how they performed under similar circumstances.

You won’t be privy to what colours the jockey is wearing or what success the individual trainers have had with other horses.

And most importantly of all, you’ll have no idea how all of this information has affected the odds, so you’ll be betting blind. The race card is free and is updated right up until the race actually starts, so don’t miss out.

The only exception to this is if you have placed an Ante bet, in which case the bet would be classed as a losing one and the bookies would retain your stake.
