Leopardstown Racecourse Fixtures and Events

As mentioned, Leopardstown plays host to a wide variety of meetings and races across the year.  Some of these may be much shorter than others, but they all hold a little bit of prestige that’s all their own!

It’s worth taking a look at the full schedule of Leopardstown Racecourse fixtures and events by examining the official website of the stadium.

There are often more than 20 big meetings and trials which take place across the racing calendar here.  Take a look at the official site for more details by clicking here.

Buying Tickets

Buying tickets is always fairly simple at Leopardstown Racecourse.  You can purchase tickets for specific events in advance via the main website, or you can do so when you get to the stadium itself.

In some cases, it might make sense to book your tickets early if you want to see some of the more popular chases and trials.  This is not only as a result of places being eaten up fairly quickly, but also due to the fact that you may stand to get better offers this way.

Take a look at the racecourse’s website and see what offers you can grab, and whether or not you can book online in plenty of advance.

Dress Code

Is there always a dress code for race meetings and events?  Not always, but for some of the more prestigious meetings, you are going to need to do more than show up in a shirt and jeans.

Make sure to follow any dress guidelines set up by the racecourse ahead of particular meetings, cups and chases.

This way, you won’t look out of place – and what’s more, you can feel free to attend any and all the races you desire.  Always make sure to check the guidelines before you book your tickets!

The history of Leopardstown Racecourse is pretty varied!  It was first built in 1888, and it is said to have been inspired by the hugely popular Sandown course, based in England.

Since 1967, the course has been under the ownership of the Horse Racing Board of Ireland.

Each year, Leopardstown plays host to big meetings and races such as the Derrinstown Trials, the Leopardstown Guineas Trial Stakes, and the Golden Fleece Stakes.

You can find out more about the history of the course and its regular meetings by checking out its Wikipedia page.
