Monster Wheels is a five-reel, one-hundred and twenty-eight payline slot game that runs on Microgaming’s own software. The layout of the reels are unconventional: by default, the game will show three reels of two symbols (left, right and middle) with two reels of four symbols between them.
This can be changed using the “Switch Ways” button, which makes the order change to “4, 3, 2, 3, 4” instead of “2, 4, 2, 4, 2” and changes around the potential paylines.
The visual design of Monster Wheels takes a lot of inspiration from Microgaming’s other successful games, keeping a clear and clean playing area while still being nice to look at.
All of the symbols are slightly cartoonish without being too distorted to take seriously, and the background is a simple, dark tire pattern that makes everything else much easier to see.

Paylines and Stakes
As usual, you can place a bet using the “Bet” option, which lets you set the value of the coins you’ll be placing on paylines. When you’re ready, you can use “Spin” to let the reels turn, or use “Autoplay” to keep them moving automatically with the same bet until you interrupt them.
The monster portrait symbols can be used to form a winning combination if you get two of them, as opposed to three or more. They’re some of the most valuable symbols in the game, but the standard “number” symbols are more likely to appear in rows.
As mentioned earlier, the layout of the reels is unique, especially if you’re used to normal grid-style reels. It may take a while to adjust, but the design makes it very clear where all the paylines are, and the “Switch Ways” button is very close to the middle of the screen, making it clear what you need to click or tap to change the reel layout again.
Interactive Features
Monster Wheels slots, like many slot games in June 2023, had special symbols that can trigger certain events. The first is the Wild, which is the game’s own Monster Wheels Logo – it’s a substitute for every other symbol in the game except the Scatter. The Scatter itself is a gas canister, which will trigger the Free Spins feature if you get three or more.
Triggering Free Spins gives you multiple options, all of which are combinations of spins and multipliers.
You can either choose to get twelve spins with an x3 multiplier, six spins with an x4 multiplier, or three spins with an x8 multiplier.
Getting more scatter symbols will reward you with extra free spins, and getting three or more again will re-trigger the feature even if it hasn’t ended yet. This means that you can keep a chain of free spins going if you’re lucky enough.
