The Mecca Bingo Brand

The brand was first carried over to the UK from America through the 1960s by a person called Eric Morely. He believed the game would be popular in the United Kingdom because of the loose gambling regulations and the demand for top quality leisure activities.

The UK welcomed it with open arms and it quickly became a popular technique of getting communities socialising again, as an alternative to being stuck with their new-fangled TV screens.

The current entertainment game of bingo we see these days started in the USA, and was utilised there as a means of raising money for charities. It has recently become one of the most commonly performed activities at many UK destinations and also around the world.

The name Mecca is well-known throughout the world and there are lots of supporters of this game. Many major clubs don’t make use of the outdated expressions nowadays, but there are still several places that will. Plenty of more updated halls started appearing during the 1980s and this made the game far more prevalent. Incredibly in 2006 more people in the United Kingdom visited bingo clubs than went to football matches.

Lately, the game has fast become an internet sensation, with internet bingo currently being an essential element of the culture. All the latest bingo games are available online, which is why internet gaming is becoming more popular.

Brierley Hill is a small town and electoral ward of the Dudley Metropolitan Borough, in the West Midlands of England, and is situated approximately 2.5 miles south of central Dudley and 2 miles north of Stourbridge.

Part of the Black Country, and in a heavily industrialised area of the Dudley Borough, it has a population of 13,935 at the 2011 census, and is best known for glass and steel manufacturing, although the industry has declined considerably since the 1970s.

One of the largest factories in the area was the Round Oak Steelworks, which was closed down and redeveloped in the 1980s to become the Merry Hill Shopping Centre. It was originally in Staffordshire, but is now part of the West Midlands metropolitan county since its creation in 1974.
